The Winner of the 2022 European Writing Prize

Congratulations to A FUNERAL by ERIK ANDERSON for winning the 2022 European Writing Prize!

Hailing from Denmark, Anderson has managed to encapsulate the idea of ‘anxiety’ in his short story exploring a boy’s mother’s funeral. A captivating piece of literature, A Funeral has demonstrated everything we look for in a piece of writing: a careful control of prose, knowing the rules of writing (and when to break them), and the crafting of a compelling, interesting story.

The piece will be featured in The European Literary Review: First Edition, along with the entirety of the shortlist, and some select pieces from the longlist yet to be announced. To stay up to date with TESL news, follow our Twitter.

Thank you to all who participated, and please remember to consider submitting to the currently running 2023 Bloom Writing Contest for another chance at literary success!
