Europe’s premier literature club —
Our goal is to put genuinely fantastic writing back on the map, one author at a time.
-
Founded in 2022, The European Society of Literature aims to re-define what constitutes literature by curating a community of aspiring writers, avid readers, and established authors across Europe.
The organisation will host regular events, competitions and fundraisers while simultaneously creating the crucial networks that good writers need to have their work noticed and published. At The European Society of Literature, we believe that literary organisations and publishing houses often overlook many valuable artists and their work—this is because they understand that good art, in the 21st century, can be a hard sell. The publishing industry relies, just like every other business, on revenue and profits. Fundamentally, that which satisfies the most consumers is that which is published and marketed; works of high literary merit and skill are often ignored. We believe that this unfortunate reality degrades the quality of the literature produced, and that this decline has progressed for a while.
Our objective within the Society is to attempt to reverse the current trend and begin to reassert the immense value that a good story can have.
Our mission will be to put unrecognised but valuable authors on the map, to establish and help grow important relationships and communities within literary circles and to, eventually, begin a chain of publishing houses across Europe, the United States, and Australasia.

Here at The European Society of Literature, we are dedicated to supporting and promoting the arts, specifically through hosting writing competitions and publishing our quarterly journal, The European Literary Review. These efforts provide opportunities for writers to showcase their work and receive recognition, while also fostering a sense of community among artists. Our writing prizes for emerging authors all have paid cash prizes, potential for publishing scout attention, and the opportunity to have your artistic talent spread and seen across the globe.
Through these activities, we are able to contribute to the growth and success of the literary world, helping to nurture new talent and celebrate established voices. Whether through competitions or the journal, we are dedicated to celebrating and supporting the literary arts in all their forms.
